A Moscow-based security firm has exposed closely guarded secrets on the NSA_s spying capabilities. Russian researchers claim the NSA has figured out how to hide spying software deep within hard drives made by top manufacturers including Western Digital, Seagate, and Toshiba. Meanwhile, the Kaspersky Lab has ALSO shed light on a billion dollar international hacking ring The scheme is believed to have started in 2013, and affected more than one hundred banks in thirty countries. Rather than targeting consumers, hackers aimed malware at bank employees to gain info on internal operations. The report says that most of the banks were located in Russia, but institutions in China, Ukraine, and the US were also victimized.
