Scene opens to Rosie (Arietta Adams) arriving for an ordinary day of sitting. The father, Jack Harris (John Strong), greets her as warmly as always. Father Thomas listens intently, but instead of giving her absolution, he insists that the cheating is a serious flaw in Anna's character. Even if he gives her his blessing, she'll likely go out there and cheat on poor Milo again. Although Anna is adamant that she'll never make Milo sad again, Father Thomas insists that the only way he'll help her make things right is if she gives herself to him. Anna is shocked that the community man she looked up to would twist things around and use her sin against her. However, Father Thomas gives her a choice: she can have sex with him OR come clean to Milo about her infidelity...
