Ashley Alban - Feminist Student Teases Professor JOI
You are about to leave at the end of your office hour when one of your students walks in. She is a typical angry, misguided feminist, and you know she is about to complain about something. She tells you that she really wants to talk to you about your last lecture. She asks you why the only examples you provided for ads targeted towards women were for things like makeup. She asks if you think women are just put on earth to serve men and look good for them. You assure her that of course you do not think that, and you ask her if she wears makeup. She replies that she does, but *only* for herself. You press and ask if she has ever worn makeup for another reason. She pauses, and then relates a story from when she was younger and wore makeup to school one day and the boy she liked finally talked to her. But her friends told her that he only liked her because of the makeup and she shouldn’t talk to him again. She sighs and asks what is so wrong with looking good.
