Flood waters from tropical storm Harvey have already affected a quarter of Texas_s population Harvey made landfall as a category 4 hurricane on Friday. By Sunday thousands in the Houston area were forced to seek higher ground. The situation has overwhelmed rescuers. Thing is 50 MORE inches of rain is expected in the Houston area in the coming days. Thousands of National Guard members have been called in and FEMA is openly asking for any able-bodied citizens to assist in rescue efforts. President Trump will visit Texas on Tuesday to get a first-hand look at the situation and ensure that government agencies have the resources they need to keep everyone safe. An engineer who helped develop a device that allowed Volkswagen to lie about vehicle emissions is going to jail 63-year old James Liang is the first person to be prosecuted in the global scandal. The US District Court judge wanted to send a message to the auto industry and gave him an unexpectedly harsh sentence. Liang will do more than three years in prison and face a 200-thousand dollar fine VW_s admitted to installing software in its vehicles that deceived environmental regulators about diesel emissions. The scandal has already cost the automaker 25 billion dollars in the US. And the heir to the Samsung Electronics has been convicted of bribery Samsung chairman Jay Y. Lee has been hit with a five-year prison term. It_s a case that_s gripped South Korea a country dominated by powerful family-run conglomerates.
