The US Supreme Court has denied BP_s appeal of its own multi-billion dollar settlement over the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill. BP had argued that it made payouts to businesses who made fraudulent claims about how they were affected by the spill. However on Monday the Supreme Court turned down BP_s plea to reopen the 2012 settlement meaning it will have to make all payments. BP has estimated the deal will cost 9.7 billion dollars in plaintiff payments but that number could end up being much higher. It was more bad news for Uber on Monday as the city of Portland filed a lawsuit against the taxi-ride service. The suit claims Uber must stop operations until it meets the city_s regulations. Uber started in Portland just a few days ago but did not receive any consent from local authorities. It_s far from the first bump in the road for the company. Uber_s already been banned in Nevada as well as the Netherlands for failing to meet licensing standards and was banned this week in the Indian capital of New Delhi after a driver allegedly rpgd a female passenger.Much of the northeast is on winter storm watches as they brace for a second major storm in the past 2 weeks.
