Our coverage today starts in the naked newsroom where North Korea has ramped up its rhetoric against the US over the controversial Sony film The Interview. In a new statement published by North Korea_s state media authorities have threatened to blow up the White House claiming they_ve found clear evidence that the American government was behind the making of The Interview. Officials in Pyongyang say Washington engineered the movie as a propaganda tool against them. The film ends with the gruesome death of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. In the statement North Korea refers to the US as a cesspool of terrorism and says it is targeting the citadels of US imperialists including the White House and the Pentagon. Oddly enough the secretive country_s government still claims it had nothing to do with the hacking attacks against Sony. In other news the US Treasury has essentially ended the Troubled Asset Relief Program better known as TARP which began in 2008 to bail out banks and car companies during the economic collapse. The Treasury sold off its remaining shares in Ally Financial bringing its total profits to 15.3 billion dollars. The TARP program saw the government pour more than 426 billion into banks and the Big Three automakers to keep them from going under. It was a policy that outraged the public and essentially sparked the rise of the Tea Party movement. The TARP program was started in the final months of George W Bush_s presidency and is now being hailed as a victory by President Obama and his team. And speaking of car companies Chrysler has now expanded its recall of cars and trucks fitted with faulty Takata airbags. The recall now totals 3.3 million vehicles worldwide - 2.9 million of which are in the US. Ten other major car companies are also recalling vehicles that were fitted with the Takata airbags which can explode and send shrapnel at the driver and passengers.
