The United Nations is weighing options on how to best deal with the military conflict in the former French colony of Mali. Several U.N. nations have come forth in support of the Malian government which was overthrown last year by Islamic rebels in the north of the country. The U.N. is discussing new strategies to address the months-long conflict which has escalated in recent days. Over the weekend the French military bombed rebel training camps and several other Islamic military outposts causing heavy casualties. Hundreds of French soldiers on the ground in Mali are soon expected to be joined by troops from neighbouring African nations.
