After the disappear of his wife and girl, Kole was irreparably broken. He publicly denounced the United Planetary Alliance (U.P.A.) and blamed them for not doing enough to protect their transport ship against attack. For his statements, he was charged with insubordination and defamation. Facing a dishonorable discharge and a prison sentence, Kole managed to avoid detainment and fled.

Losing both his family and his ties to the military men and women he used to call boy and friend, Kole felt he had nothing left to live for. He went on a spree of self-destruction, spending his days and nights reckless.
