To start with, the title Um Sі Desejo roughly translates to Only a desire. Its a slightly campy, modern take on the genie-in-a-bottle-released-to-fulfil-masters-wishes tale. Only this time, the genie tells our protagonist you have three wishes and the first two dont count!
Surprisingly, despite the slightly campy beginning and the genies grotesque make-up, this film actually works. Part of that has to be attributed to the attractiveness of the actors. All of them are light to medium skinned Hispanics. No, they are not porn stars. They are not even well-known names, judging from the credits list at the end of the film. Neither are they the well-muscled. But they are nice-looking men, your average man next door type of man that most of us can relate to. And the sex scenes work because of that.
