And a nationwide airbag recall that COULD affect MILLIONS in the US could soon be underway. It_s to protect people from inflators that send metal shrapnel into the passenger compartment. Federal regulators are calling on automakers and Japan_s Takata Corporation which manufactured the faulty parts to expand their recall. It had previously only included cars along the Gulf Coast affected by high humidity. Takata has been subpoenaed by the US District Court over reports that it knew about the airbag problem ten years ago but covered it up.
